Grapes = Wishes

Do you have a list of wishes and hopes for the upcoming year? The best way to guarantee that they all come true is to eat 12 grapes as quickly as possible within the first minute after the clock strikes 12. The key is to think about each wish as you’re stuffing your face. Why 12? Well, for the 12 months of the year of course! Apparently this tradition was conceived by Spanish farmers who had a surplus of grape supply but this tradition still holds true today and if you talk with the locals, many will swear that this is the secret to success in the upcoming year.

Want to fill your pockets with cash this new year? The secret is yellow.

Jealous that all of your friends got to trot the globe the year before while you stayed in the office staring at your faux cubicle wall? Fret not! Just make sure that at midnight you take a suitcase and run around your block as fast as you can. It also helps to think about all the wonderful places that you want to visit. If done correctly, you will absolutely be travelling in the upcoming year!

Bonus tip: Make sure to think about an amazing Colombian adventure and you’ll be sure to see the beauty of this country firsthand the following year.

Blowing Stuff Up = Cleansing

Although safety precautions definitely need to be taken, blowing stuff up, or metaphorically blowing up the old year, is both therapeutic and exciting. This can be personified as fireworks attached to a dummy or just a bushel of fireworks tied in a round. Many people even write notes of their past wrongs and fears on pieces of paper and attach it to the bundle before setting it alight. Doing so makes sure that the past troubles are gone clearing a path for good fortune in the upcoming year.

Lentils = Good Luck

Want good luck for the new year? It’s as easy as eating lentils and rice on New Year’s Eve… And if you’re not a fan, be sure to stuff some lentils in your pocket. Some say that this works as well.

So no matter what your heart desires in the new year, be sure to do the appropriate practice and you’ll be happy to see all of your dreams come true! And if your dreams include an unforgettable vacation all you need to do is get in touch with Colombia’s adventure travel experts.
